Scholarships


There are three scholarship programs that are supported by LFEF. These include scholarships through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Idaho, the Treasure Valley YMCA, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Idaho.

SCHOLARSHIP PARTNER

Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Idaho

The Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Idaho administers scholarships for up to four years at $10,000 per year. These are called the BBBSuccessful Scholarships. Big Brothers/Big Sisters typically award two new scholarships per year. It is a competitive selection process, with applications typically due by early March of each student’s senior year in high school. The applications are evaluated by the staff of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and are typically announced around mid-April of each year.

Treasure Valley YMCA

The Treasure Valley YMCA provides evaluation of scholarship applicants for scholarships of up to four-years at $10,000 per year. These are called the Y-Not Go On scholarships and as many as three new scholarships are awarded each year. The YMCA provides only evaluation of scholarship applications and recommendations for award of the scholarships. The scholarships are actually awarded and administered by the Idaho Community Foundation.  Scholarship applications are typically due to the YMCA by February 1 of each student’s senior year in high school, and the awards are typically made in early June of each year.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Idaho

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Idaho hold an annual competition for their Youth of the Year scholarship. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Ada County hold an Ada County Youth of the Year competition and the winner of that competition goes on to compete for the State Youth of the Year title with the winners from other local competitions in Idaho. The winner of the Ada County competition receives a $3,000 one-time scholarship, and the winner of the state competition receives a $10,000 one-time scholarship.
